a small update
When Mr. G is in China, he is unable to access the Journal at any time, but can read the title of each post via Twitter. I was really tempted, this past time, to play a little joke on him by entitling an entry something provocative, then beginning the entry (which would be hidden from him) by immediately making it clear that the title was a joke. Something like, "Mr. G to direct Dr. Who". ^_^

I had a good time out in Minneapolis. I saw some friends.

I will be at the AFP concert on the 19th. I have no idea what to wear. I doubt my new goblin ears will have arrived by then, alas. Maybe a "Lorraine a' Malena" shirt? That might be suitably obscure, and concert-appropriate. I've never seen AFP live. I'm looking forward to it. Will any of you be there? We could plan something, perhaps...

I'm happy to see that Mr. G's posting frequency is up of late. I hope that he continues to have fun with it.

I am sick. I was fine with it until this morning. Now I've reached the "it sucks" stage of sickness. Blegh.

I am sick

Hope you're feeling better soon!

My throat decided it was going to start hurting today. I have consumed large amounts of vitamin C, zinc, and tea, and I am telling my throat sternly that it is not allowed to hurt. No sir.

In any case, feel better soon :)

I hope you'll be well enough to go to the concert! And that it's just ordinary sickness and not The Dreaded Plague.

(I wish I could be there, but it's a bit too far away.)

Next time he is in China you totally should do that.

Have fun at the concert! I saw her last week at the Burlington, VT show. It was amazing! Her backing band is awesome and the jazz horns, scatting, etc. adds a really great sound to her music. Plus, she was incredibly sweet and gave out hugs, cookies, and autographs to everyone who stayed after the show.

i hope you feel better soon.
i recommend ginger root tea. peel a ginger root, boil in about two-three mugs full of water until it turns a lovely gingery color and smells delightful. add honey and lemon and drink it all up. my surefire way to feel better soon, if you drink it right before taking a nap, it's like double time to feeling better.

I hope you feel better soon, and echo the recommendation for ginger tea! You can also peel a bit of ginger root, and bite it to bruise it, and suck on it like a lozenge. Takes a bit of time getting used to it, but works very well for sore throats.

I think that it would also be an interesting prank to play!

OH HEY THE SHOW IS IN FALLS CHURCH. I didn't know they were coming here! And it...looks like it's not too far from the metro?

You know, I would go but I don't know anyone else except you who would be interested in going. Would it be weird if I went and asked if I could be Not Lame and By Myself by hanging out with you? Um. :)
webgoblinwebgoblin on November 16th, 2009 12:41 am (UTC)
Absolutely! I will have a posse of at least three other women with me, assuming we all find each other.
Emilyforesthouse on November 16th, 2009 12:58 am (UTC)
Heee! Should we all be wearing matching something-or-others? Heh.

Well if that works for you, I will go ahead and buy my ticket. You already have my cell number, I think, from Balticon? If not I can text you so you have it again. Awesomeness! I haven't been to a good show in a while. :)
webgoblinwebgoblin on November 16th, 2009 01:01 am (UTC)
Nora and Rebecca B-T, from Balticon, will be there too! I haven't been to a live show in ages.
Emilyforesthouse on November 16th, 2009 01:06 am (UTC)
Oh hey, awesome! OK, going to go buy ticket now. WHEE.
Emilyforesthouse on November 16th, 2009 01:46 am (UTC)
Got my ticket! Hey, btw, do you know if there's an opener? It says doors at 7 and show at 8:30, and since I'm coming from work, if I could squeeze by with arriving at 8ish and finding you guys without missing any of the performances, I'd like to...
webgoblinwebgoblin on November 16th, 2009 01:49 am (UTC)
I think she has an opening act, but I don't know if they go on before 8:30p or not. I got an email saying that she'd be doing some sort of conversation with people at 7:45p.
Emilyforesthouse on November 16th, 2009 03:12 am (UTC)
Oh, well in that case, I'll try to get there by 7:30. Thanks! :)

I have a dinner reservation, since that's the only way to reserve a table in the balcony. Two of my dinner companions have dropped out, so if you'd like a bite to eat after work you could come up and find me. It's a $10 minimum, and spirits don't count.

I saw AFP this past Saturday in Brooklyn and before that in June when she was also in New York. She is an amazing live performer. I am sure you will enjoy the show.
