remember, remember...
Happy 5th of November, all.

"Dan Guy" isn't some diminutive pen name, it's my actual first and middle names; my last is an Americanized "Fawkes". As unfathomable as it is to me now, my parents named me after Guy Fawkes.

Let this be a lesson to future parents: don't name your child after someone whom you don't want them to emulate. Names are powerful things.

If you don't see the previous locked post then you need to friend me so that I know that you're out there.

And, for the record, when I said that making a locked post made me feel mischievious, I didn't mean to suggest that I had any sort of mischief in mind, honest.

And quite easy to google, too!

...what? Like you don't google the names of new people you meet? :)
webgoblinwebgoblin on November 5th, 2009 04:22 pm (UTC)
...

I'm not sure how to interpret this. I will opt to interpret it in such as way as to motivate me to go scrub some stuff online. ^_^

*shrug* I just meant that googling your name produces lots of results relevant to you. I can't say I studied it in very great detail, so it may or may not be terribly embarrassing :)
webgoblinwebgoblin on November 5th, 2009 04:29 pm (UTC)
I am slightly vexed by the number of "Dan Guy"s that google turns up who are not me. Some of them even have eponymous domain names.
Jasthewebmistress on November 5th, 2009 04:38 pm (UTC)
I guess many people's parents liked guy fawkes? :)
webgoblinwebgoblin on November 5th, 2009 04:50 pm (UTC)
Bah. I'm quite certain that none of the pretenders are actually named "Guy". They might as well be calling themselves "Dan Man" or "Dan Boy".
Amyviolachic on November 5th, 2009 06:45 pm (UTC)
When I was in high school, I dated someone actually named "Dan Guy".
webgoblinwebgoblin on November 5th, 2009 07:16 pm (UTC)
Amy, is that you?!

No, but I did play the violin and viola for 14 years in my youth.

Aww, that's a shame...

You know the two halves of this post when put together... well I'm not sure I believe you about the mischief! *g*

Or maybe they did want you to foment revolution. Although I would think parents would want it to be a successful revolution.

Do you fear bonfires?
webgoblinwebgoblin on November 5th, 2009 04:57 pm (UTC)
No, I relish them.

Uh huh. A likely story. Because RoboPanda and the Amazing Aardvark weren't your doing, right? *grins*

It's better than John Steven Stevens. I suspect. I don't know having neither names but seem to know people with both.

Maybe.

Also, you may have seen what the mention of the word(, uh, root?) 'michie-' does to us. Use it wisely :)

Happy Bonfire Night!

Not that we celebrate it where I live (they weren't our Houses of Parliament, after all), but still. Any excuse to make big fires is good.

It's not a national holiday here, but that doesn't mean we can't celebrate it. I've just finished a flurried round of texting to get all my friends to converge at the same house tonight so we can burn stuff in effigy together. But then, we do tend to be pyros...
